My name is Jim Chamberlain and I am running for Huerfano County Sheriff.

 

I have lived and worked in Huerfano County for 39 years and am a 1988 graduate of La Veta High School. My wife Shawna (Palmer) Chamberlain  is from Cuchara and is the Director of the Radiology Department at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center and we have a twelve  year old daughter named Bryanna.

I have 19 years of Law Enforcement experience in Southern Colorado. I started with the La Junta Police Department, worked 13 years with the Walsenburg Police Department, where I started as a patrolman and worked my way up through the ranks to the position of Chief of Police.  I also worked as the La Veta Deputy Marshal for 5 years.

I retired as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves 310th Security Forces Squadron that specializes in anti-terrorism, combat operations, and military law enforcement on December 7th, 2019.  In my 26 year military career I have deployed numerous times to combat zones in the Middle East after 9/11/2001 for Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Noble Eagle, and Operation Iraqi Freedom to Baghdad in 2004-2005 and to Kirkuk, Iraq in 2008-2009.

 

Elect me your Sheriff and I promise to focus on mitigating the rising crime rate, eradicating the illegal drug problem, and I will ensure equitable law enforcement coverage throughout Huerfano County.
